Dead Words is the fifth game released by Cocoa Touch Games.
How fast can you pick out real archaic words from a whole pile of madeup words? How many will you get right (in a row) before your game ends?Dead Words is the latest game from Cocoa Touch Games and is a dastardlypuzzler game for word lovers.
Your only goal in Dead Words is to try to correctly identify realwords—that were once common in the English language—from fake words.And though it looks random, careful thinking about how words are formedand their origins will lead you (usually) to the correct answer. Theword list in version 1.0 is made up of more than 1,800 words that mighthave been part of the English language in the 1700s and 1800s. Wereferenced a number of dictionaries and word reference sources fromthose centuries to develop a list of devilishly difficult andodd-sounding words and their meanings. We display real word definitionsduring game play. However, in addition to real words that were oncecommon, the word list contains hundreds of words that we createdspecifically for Dead Words. You will need a good mind and a sharpknowledge of the English language to spot the real words from the fakes.
Your "score" in Dead Words is determined by how many words you correctly identify as real or fake in a row.At the end of game your best score to date is saved on your localdevice and displayed on the menu screen of the game. Dead Words wasdesigned to be played anywhere ... for a minute at a time or an hour.
Future updates (free) will expand the English language version of DeadWords to include a word list of more than 3,000 words. In the future,we hope to release additional versions with French, Spanish and Germanwords for puzzle lovers around the world!
What's new in version 1.2? Flurry mobile analytics, all of thespelling errors are now corrected in the definition list, we updatedmany of the game graphics and instructions, cleaned up some of game'sprogramming code, and added in a simple check to see if the applicationhas been cracked. Note that the iPhone App Store lists 1.2 as v1.11.
