Ladies :-), the 17-digit numbers are in fact IMEISV, IMEI plus a two-digit software version from 00 to 98 (99 reserved for future use). Now it would be interesting to learn from you if a certificate is accepted when you just delete the last two (software version) digits when requesting a cert here. Please keep us posted!

Update: Ok, so you report that just using the 15 digits from a IMEISV is not generating a working certificate. So we all have to research helping OPDA generating 17-digit IMEISV certificates then. Lets get to work!

I downloaded and tested the new certificate.
It does not work

Lucas0511 2008-4-10 00:23

There is very little information about IMEISV on the net, and even SymbianSigned does not even mention it. Your best bet now is...

...OPDA will find out how to make IMEISV certificates for Samsung owners
...that a commercial provider knows how to make them, you could i.e. ask http://www.kaidomain.com/WEBUI/ProductDetail.aspx?TranID=4226 . A PID cert costs 5 US dollars there. They are also in China, so cannot answer before tomorrow.

Good luck. Guess your next phone will be a Nokia...

But it is possible to obtain a certificate for a 17-digit IMEI?

Lucas0511 2008-4-10 00:58

I am sure Samsung Symbian phones can accept signed apps, let OPDA do some research, and write to Kaidomain to ask. Keep us posted.:{o

x TONY4114

Yesterday, in another forum, the moderator Xena1997 tried to make me the certificate.
But in the end he told me that it was not possible to realize because the system required to enter a IMEI only 15 digits.

That is why yesterday I wrote in this post ... IMPOSSIBLE.

Then you wrote that it was possible to obtain a certificate for a 17-digit IMEI...You have given me a hope.

I wrote to all sites and forums of the world ... no answer.

Lucas0511 2008-4-11 21:19

It is difficult to get confirmation, but it seems that Samsung phones in general do not have the VeriSign Testing-Based ACS root for Symbian OS Symbian Limited root certificate installed. You can get it here:
http://anonym.to/https://www.ver ... u...getrootcert.cer

A root certificate is not the same as a OPDA or Symbian Signed developer certificate which you can obtain here. Problem is, root certificates are usually provided by your phone manufacturer, and installed with a install routine. So we still need to find out now where this root certificate from Verisign has to be put on your phone. And of course you will have to gain access to the hidden system files on your phone, to be able to install a root certificate on your phone. For that you need to implement the FCA firmware hack. But...I dont know if it will also work on Samsung phones.

The FCA Symbian firmware hack was born here
http://anonym.to/http://www.symb ... ewtopic.php?t=17479 (need to register in that forum to gain access)
So you could ask there if the hack also works on Samsung. It does on Sony Ericsson Symbian phones.

If the hack works on Samsung, maybe it is enough to implement it on your Samsung, and then sign your apps with the modified certificate provided in this post:
http://anonym.to/http://www.symb ... ewtopic.php?t=17479

Like me, you will not need any other certificate. Your OPDA certificate in this case should be stored, and comes in handy when Symbian figures out a way to block the firmware hack.

Good luck!

Sorry if often write here.

I tried with the PM ... but nobody responds.

Lucas0511 2008-4-11 23:04

Since the threadstarter posted his frustration right after me, and might think nobody cares: Anybody here know where root certificates are stored on the Symbian platform?

zemanlandia 2008-4-12 00:02

I also tried to overcome the problem of  certificate using a methods posted on the forum ... but without success.

APPTRX not install on my phone.

About certificate. No new

zemanlandia 2008-4-12 00:14

I have read that people with a 17-digit IMEI had obtained a certificate from SymbianSigned (when working) sending them file.csr.
So I think that the certificate can be achieved.
