Nokia 5700 XpressMusic camera

Hi all. Some days ago I bought a Nokia 5700 XpressMusic and I have to say that I am quite satisfied with it.

I mean, it is not as fancy as the phones from the N series, but it is still a wonderful phone. Very fast, with great sound quality (it is always a good idea to discard the earphones that come with the phone and use instead better quality ones) and with a 2mpx camera with flash.

That's precisely the weak point of the phone (IMHO). The pictures aren't as nice as I thought they would be. I remember I used to own a N70 (which was stolen from me by a very bad person), with a 2mpx camera and a flash which were very similar to the ones in my current phone, and the pictures were much better.

Does anybody know if there is a workaround for improving the picture quality in this phone?

Thanks in advance and best regards,

-JM.

I'm also having this mobile...Quality will be good if and only if it was taken in good lighting condition...Don't use high quality, use only normal quality in settings for both pix and video..

Except it's camera quality everything rocks...

Mmmmh. That's interesting. So far, I have tried to get good pictures by using the high quality mode, but I will give your advice a try.

However, I don't see the point of putting a 2mpx camera in a phone if the user isn't going to be able to take full advantage of it. I have read somewhere that improving pictures (and videos) quality might be possible if Nokia released a new firmware version fixing this condition. But I am not so sure that this can actually be fixed by a firmware update. Can anybody confirm this, please?

It's a pity that such a good phone has such a poor image quality.

Thanks for your reply, magesh_me. See you around,

Hello again all.

Sorry to reply myself, but I've just remembered one more thing related to this phone (Nokia 5700 XpressMusic) and its camera. Does anybody know if it is possible to turn off the camera sound? I have used cCam (an excellent piece of software, but somewhat limited). I would love to shut the shutter up (it is useful a silent camera when you are, say, at a lecture, or at a museum, etc.)

Thanks again and best regards,

-JM.

If you use this software "" WildPalm.CameraFX.v2.60 "" you can take pictures without the shutter sound...only problem is the play button cannot be used to take a snap..you have to use the center (ok) button..

I think Nokia 5700 is very very very good phone and your choice is very right :)

we are talking about 5700's camera and where comes your n73 here..agree that n73 has good camera...
but n70 & n73 are always sleeping when memory card is fully loaded..but our 5700 are always active much much faster than n73..
5700 rocks!!! Is it???come on raise your opinions...

hi, my wife bought this phone at the same day whem i bought my nokia n95;D it is true that this phone don't have so good camera quality as like you said n70 but it is a music phone. you should not bought the phone with 2mpix camera if you wanna do a photos. i have n95 with 5mpix and sometimes this camera is not so good as it sould be. don't expect that 2mpix camera will do imiges with god quality if 5mpix nokias camera is too not so good. better buy good camera;D

Also, to improve quality of picture, You can use pc software to reduce noise (the best program for me - NeatImage (http://www.neatimage.com/))

what ,i just speaking a little english:yb:

grzem 2008-8-31 02:56

5700 has worse quality because quality of picture don't depend on resolution of camera but depend on optics of camera. I'm not sure about this but n70 has Carl Zeiss optics.

P.S. sorry about my english
